20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in Prague

This autumn the Czech Republic commemorates the twentieth anniversary of the Velvet Revolution – an important milestone in the history of the Czech Republic as the long era of  Communist  rule was brought to an end to be replaced by democracy.

The British Embassy in Prague is contributing  to the commemoration in two ways.   Firstly, via a collection of photographs, personal accounts and press cuttings from British staff, who worked at the Embassy in the 70s and 80s.   And secondly through our contribution and support to a major open air exhibition in Prague organised by Post Bellum, an NGO which seeks to preserve the memory, experience and lessons from Czechoslovakia's Communist era.  More information about both projects can be found by clicking on the links below.
