Prague hosted a climate change conference in April 2007.

Climate change - Opportunity through action

Project contributing to the achievement of climate security by promoting a faster transition to a sustainable, low carbon global economy. The main aims of the project are to recognise the risks/consequences of climate change and opportunities of climate change mitigation and set out guidelines for future. During the conference taking place in Prague in April 2007, that represents the core activity of the project, a Code of conduct/manifesto on climate change shall be approved. Seminars on Emissions Trade Scheme, Stern Review on Economics of climate change and environmental technologies shall lead to the engagement of the business community and industry in the work on mitigating climate change and reducing carbon emissions.
 

Contribution to annual Sustainable development week

Helps to raise the awareness of Sustainable development issues in the Czech Republic and to articulate purpose of congestion charging in a Sustainable development context.
 

Commercial Judges Training

Training for Czech commercial judges in modern legal practise and so they were better able to apply modern methods in the Czech Republic and improve the justice system e.g. arbitration, bankrupcy.
 

Preparations of the Czech Presidency of the Council

Series of organisations and seminars organised by Ano pro Evropu and taking place in the period of time from September till December 2007; having the objective to help to ensure that Czech Presidency of the Council pushes forward a substantive reform agenda within the European Union. The project is aiming to assist the Czech government to have a constructive impact during the 2009 Presidency, including ensuring that public discourse moves to a more engaged level.
 

Volunteer as a Guide of a Refugee/Mentoring scheme

Project organised by CIC (Centre for the Integration of Foreigners) is aimed to support individual co-operation between a member of the hosting community - volunteer and an immigrant - to ease the immigrant’s full social integration.
20 newly trained mentors will be able to improve immigrant’s/client’s Czech language skills, provide and assistance in looking for a job, help to establish of relationships between immigrants and their new local environment which enable their smooth and full integration into the Czech and local society. In addition to mentor’s training programme, counselling to recognise refugees and other foreigners with long-term or permanent residence permit in the Czech republic is provided.
 

Anti-corruption conference

Organised by US Embassy in Prague, taking place in September 2007. The conference is intended to highlight the issue of the corruption and it’ s negative impact on economics, growth and transparency.
 

EU Agriculture Seminar

One-day seminar for Senior Officials of the Ministry of Agriculture on EU agriculture policy and the Presidency. Participants from UK side were Sonia Phippard, Director Food and Farming - DEFRA, Davinder Lail, DEFRA and David Barnes, Agriculture Counsellor - UKRep Brussels.
 

Senior Officials Presidency Seminar

Expert seminar and discussion for Senior Officials involved in the preparation of the Czech Presidency with the aim to provide direct experience from senior officials in the UK Presidency (Shan Morgan, Director EU, FCO and David Frost, HM Ambassador, Copenhagen). The seminar took place at Úřad vlády ČR and about 50 officials participated.
 

Counter-Trafficking Campaign Targeting Clients of Prostitution in the Czech Republic

Campaign co-ordinated by International organisation for Migration is to raise awareness of the target group of clients of prostitution and larger public travelling from the UK to the Czech Republic about trafficking in women for sexual exploitation purpose and about the possibility to contact an assisting organisation.
The project should supply the larger project with new areas of activities targeting especially potential clients of prostitution from the UK. The submitted project will use the visual form and the support of partner NGOs (La Strada, Caritas) as the larger project.
 

One world - International Human Rights Documentary Festival

Organised by Člověk v tísni, taking place in March 2007 aims to point out how humanitarian, development, ecological and human rights organisations use audio-visual communication for building awareness, lobbying and campaigning.
During the Festival will be introduced the best of the TV documentaries made for various British channels. Inseparable part of the festival is screening of videoactivist films to the audience of One World Festival, the competition and presentation of NGOs.
