British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT CZ)
Following a partnership agreement between the Czech and British Governments, BMATT was deployed to Vyškov in the Czech Republic in August 2000. The mission of BMATT CZ is to provide military training courses, training assistance and advice to partner countries, in order to further develop their professional armed forces and their capabilities to participate in multinational peace support operations.
Each year the 26 members of staff deliver 'train the trainer' courses to several hundred personnel from partner countries in Europe, Central Asia and Africa, either at Vyškov or in their home countries. The training philosophy is based on sharing the British Military ethos, developing the key characteristics of leadership and a partnership that promotes national ownership of training. It takes a long-term perspective, appropriate for defence reform. The Team also works closely with the Army of the Czech Republic, providing assistance with pre-deployment training for operations.
BMATT CZ comprises 27 British personnel. The team works very closely with the United Kingdom Defence Advisors and Defence Attachés in partner countries and with the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic.
